Common Ground
South-Dacota farmer Gabe Brown has spent years explaining to people that the solution for the world’s problems lies right under their nose, just above ground. Modern tillage practices, he argues, damage both the environment and food quality, and would lead to present-day dust bowls. Renewable agriculture, on the other hand, can solve the main climate problem by zeroing carbon emissions. Directors Josh and Rebecca Tickell recruited big Hollywood stars to fight on the farmer’s side, including Laura Dern, Woody Harrelson, and Donald Glover. With this fast-paced film, they try to influence the powerful lobby of food corporations and offer viewers a sustainable alternative for a polluted and polluting plate.
At the conclusion of the screening, a discussion on land, politics, responsibility, and food security will take place. The participants include Prof. Itamar Glazer, former deputy director of Volcani institute; Dr. Dorit Adler, president of the The Israeli Forum for Sustainble Nutrition; and Dr. Yishai Menuhin, program director of Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger.
