Testimonies from May 2021

In May 2021, the Palestinian citizens of Israel took to the streets in protest, demonstrations that the Israeli police repressed with unprecedented force. The scare tactics included violent arrests and daily harassment, as well as the unbridled use of stun grenades, rubber bullets, and tear gas. In tandem, gangs of Jewish vigilantes, at times armed, imposed a reign of terror on the Jewish-Arab “mixed” cities. Given serious curtailments on the freedom of expression, and the biased, inflammatory coverage of events in the Israeli media, a group of activists decided to collect the testimonies of Jaffa and Al-Lyd residents.
