John Shipton is a 76-year-old retired builder, a polite and modest man who shies away from the limelight. However, Shipton is also father to Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks and the world's most famous political prisoner. Assange is now awaiting extradition to the United States, where he faces up to 175 years in prison. As the controversial journalist's health deteriorates and time runs out, Shipton and the rest of the family fight for his release.

The film combines historical archive footage with personal behind-the-scenes footage that together compose the story of an uncompromising family struggle and the heavy price paid by people who go against the system.
