I am Ecclesiastes

 *Outside of Competition

Dir: Dan Geva , Documentary, 2019, 12:00 min

Vanity of vanities, saith Koheleth; vanity of vanities, all is vanity. It is believed that three thousand years ago King Solomon wandered the land of Israel, writing his radical, existentialist observations about human nature in first person. The words of the ancient Hebrew philosopher - the wisest of all men, were compiled at the last part of the Bible, under the literary name of its writer: “Ecclesiastes”.

“I am Ecclesiastes” is a daring essay-film; a cinematic transformation of the Bible’s most radical book into a contemporary visual journey in Tel Aviv. Now Ecclesiastes speaks Arabic. What will his fate be?

Dr. Hillel Ben Sasson in conversation with Ashraf Barhom and Professor Dan Geva about his film, “I am Ecclesiastes”
